Side note: I’m speaking at a conference

Just to divert from our usual WordPress MU tutorials for a bit, but I’m speaking at a conference this weekend. It’s not a big techie thing like all the cool kids attend, rather it’s a homeschooling conference for parents who educate their children at home.

You’re probably wondering what this has to do with WPMU, aren’t you? :D Not only did they invite me to speak, I’ll be holding two sessions at the conference about blogs and blogging. The first is a how-to for users, showing them how to set up and manage a blog at my main WPMU-based site, HomeschoolJournal. The second is a panel discussion on “The Power of the Homeschool Blog” going over blogging on a broader scale and how it applies to moms (or dads) and home education.

Given that I started HSJ three years ago to help support other homeschoolers, and that led me to WordPress MU, starting my own site and chronicling here what I learned (and am still learning) from that and other projects, well this is pretty cool indeed.

If you want to follow along, see my twitter & personal blog links in the sidebar. I’ll be posting as much as possible there while I’m away. And given I’ll be away, you won’t see me much around the usual places. ;)

Have fun at your conference. Is someone taping your sessions? Have to admit that it would be interesting to see online.

I have no doubt you are going to rock, and as you well know WordPress in education is near and dear to my heart. So be sure to get a recording.

Do you use future host for your WPMU site? I thought I read in the forums at one point that you used Dreamhost…
